Mt. Monadnock
Challenging hike with with rock/ice scrambles, great views (if clear), and the open rocky summit approach. Winter gear is required, as is prior winter experience. Warm clothing and boots, spare clothing, emergency gear, plenty of food and liquids, crampons, and ice axe may be needed. 6 mile hike with over 1500 feet of gain. Usually exposure on top as Monadnock, at 3165' is the highest stand-alone mountain in S. NH, towering 1500 - 2000' above the surrounding area. Be prepared for a cold, beautiful, varied climb.
