Here's a Halloween parade you won't want to miss. Join Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic for a trick or treat doggie walk. The doggies do their tricks and their humans give them treats. Costumes optional (for both canines and their humans).
We'll meet in Silver Spring, MD, on Colesville Road (also Route 29) and walk as far as we want along the Northwest Branch Trail. We will most likely walk a couple of miles in and then turn around and head back, so plan on approximately 2 hours-ish round trip.
There are a few great spots for the doggies to jump in the water and play as well as a few vista points. The terrain will be varied: some through woods, some up and down, entire trail away from roads and streets. This mostly shaded trail is a sweet little gem in close-in suburbia.
For those who want to come back another time, we hear the trail goes all the way to Brookside Gardens, but the trip leaders personally have never made it that far, as it would be 7 miles one way.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's the charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can also join now by clicking on this Join Us link.
Registration closes on Thursday, Oct. 29. Please include a home and/or cell phone number in case we need to cancel because of weather. Please also include your dog's name so we know how many furry friends to expect.
