Watkins Glen State Park is a 2.5 mile looped trail passing through multiple waterfalls. The path goes through a gorge so it’s always cool while walking.
Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks. The glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge.
In 2015, the park was chosen from more than 6,000 state parks across the nation as a nominee in the USA TODAY Readers' Choice Poll for Best State Park in the United States, and won third place!
We will meet at the Main entrance and catch the 9:45 shuttle bus (cost $5) to the top. Look for the shuttle bus sign. Or you can meet us at the top if you’d like to take the bus after the hike.
Option: Join us for a bite to eat. One possible choice is the Montour House Café & Tapas Bar.
Bring: Water, good hiking shoes, hat, bug repellent
Optional: camera, binoculars, hiking sticks
RSVP and Cancellations
Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. If you attend without RSVP-ing it is possible that the hike may have changed without notification.
