The Humphrey Nature Center is a brand new facility with exhibits focusing on nature – geology of the area, wildlife, plants, trees, etc. From the Visitor Center we will go down the road a bit and visit Humphrey Nature Center and then start our hike on Trout pond Trail. We will also hike part of the Hemlock Trail. The trail is moderate with some small hills. It is slightly buggy but very scenic and shady most of the way. We will be hiking from 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Directions: Enter Letchworth State Park at the Mount Morris entrance which is on Route 36 North of the Village of Mount Morris. After entering the park drive 15 miles and park at the visitor center on the left. We will meet there at 10 a.m. Allow 30 minutes from the entrance to the Visitor center.
Bring a lunch, water, sturdy hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, bug spray. We’ll stop for lunch at the picnic table at Trout pond, or we may have to eat our lunch in the woods.
Note: There's a $10 entrance fee to the park (unless you have a pass)
