Hike High Tor to Scenic Overlook

  • 15 Oct 2016
  • 11:00 AM
  • 4298 Parrish Hill Rd, Naples, NY

Registration

Registration is closed
We'll hike a portion of the High Tor blue trail up to a lean-to and fire pit for a view of Canandaigua Lake and the surrounding hills.

RSVP and Cancellations
Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. If you attend without RSVP-ing it is possible that the hike may have changed without notification. I'll send out my cell phone number to women who register for last minute communications.

Trail Conditions - 2.4 miles RT moderately difficult

We climb on the outward bound trip and descend on the return. It's not a mountain, but there are definitely steep sections, and at least one spot where you have to have to scramble down/up an embankment. If you are moderately physically active you may find this will push you a bit. If you don't have good mobility and/or are really out of shape at this point in time then I would say this hike isn't for you.

What to Bring

Dress for the weather (and layer so when you heat up you can shuck clothes) and a hiking stick is highly recommended. Sturdy shoes. Bring water and a snack or lunch and we'll eat while enjoying the view.

Location and Directions
For detailed directions from your location use the address and your gps or an online mapping program: 4298 Parrish Hill Rd, Naples, NY. The address is approximate, but will take you to Parrish Hill Rd. Look for the parking lot straight ahead when the road curves left.

Onsite Facilities
The only facilities onsite is an outhouse at the lean-to, and the last time I was there it wasn't too inspiring.  If you use TP in the outdoor facilities make sure to bring a zip lock baggie so you can carry it out (TP is so gross to find in the woods). If you come through Naples you'll find businesses there.

Approximate Distances
Rochester - 45 miles
Ithaca - 70 miles
Auburn - 60 miles
