Linda has invited us to her home for our Fall planning meeting. We’ll start out with our Planning Meeting, and then break for a hearty lunch (dish-to-pass) around 12:30 pm. You may bring something that needs to be kept warm.
After the meeting and lunch, we can head out for a hike at Huckleberry Swamp which is only 5 mins away and a very nice, easy hike that will take less than an hour. Huckleberry Swamp is 79 acres of diverse, high quality wetlands for bird and wildlife habitat conservation. A wildlife observation deck and boardwalk meanders through a variety of wetland habitats including emergent marsh, Green Ash Wetland, and Red Maple Wetland. Huckleberry Swamp provides significant functions including storm water retention, groundwater recharge, wildlife habitat, and possibly rare plant habitat. Springtime heron rookery. See ofofinc.org for more information and directions.
Please no dogs, as Linda has chickens running all over her yard!!! Also they are not allowed in the swamp.
Linda is making pork roast for pulled pork sandwiches. Please bring a dish to pass, or ice, cups, plates, utensils, etc. Also please bring whatever you like to drink, including spirits/beer!!
Also Bring: your trip ideas, calendar, and appetite. Optional: camera, hiking poles, a friend! Don’t forget to dress for the weather and wear hiking boots or trail shoes.
