This is a great place for a fall hike. The trial goes through woods and along the Oswego River. Not too steep overall but a bit of a scramble in a few places. The length of the hike depends on which trail we choose and how much time we spend observing nature. A popular trail is the Yellow Loop, 2.3 miles, with a choice of shortcuts or extensions to make it shorter or longer. The group can decide as we go. Pets are welcome.

Bring: water, hiking poles (optional), appropriate clothing, snack and anything else you might like.

Location Great Bear Recreation Area, corner of Route 57 and Great Bear Road, between Phoenix and Fulton (NW of Syracuse)

How to find us A small parking area is off County Route 57, across the junction of Great Bear Road.  A gate allows the public to enter the property.  There are no signs off the road to mark the parking area.
