We’ll have a pancake breakfast served by Friends of Letchworth (fee), celebrating the NYS Maple Weekend.
Afterwards, we’ll take a walk around the Humphrey Nature Center, and may encounter the stations to learn about three different techniques for boiling sap: Iroquois Stone Boiling, Iron Pot Fire Pit Boiling and modern evaporator. We'll be back in time for the 1 pm lecture about bluebirds. "Join us as John Rogers explores the life history of the Eastern Bluebird, as well as other birds that nest in bluebird boxes, nest box management, and more! While the focus will be on bluebirds, John will also share his passion for the natural world in hopes that the audience will take away some broader and deeper messages about nature – and life." John Rogers gives a great presentation! Following his presentation is another on bluebird homes led by Doug Bassett, park naturalist. (optional if you want to stay for it).
