Join Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic for kayaking at Mattawoman Creek in Indian Head, MD. The tide will be coming in during the morning, so it should be a great time to be on the water.
Everyone should arrive by 9:45 a.m. to fill out the Women Outdoors waiver and to offload your boat if you have your own kayak. Atlantic Kayak opens at 10:00 a.m. if you are renting a kayak. Their rental fees are $25 for 2 hours, $35 for 3 hours and $50 for all day plus 6% Maryland sales tax. They take both cash and credit cards. A credit card deposit is required on rental kayaks. If you bring your own kayak, there is no launch fee.
Storm, our trip leader, will be at the rental shack to get you signed in. Everyone should be on the water by 10:15 a.m. and plan on paddling until 1:15 p.m. The group will need to stay together, so please be prepared to paddle for the whole 3 hours.
Be sure to allow plenty of travel time as Mattawoman Creek is located at the very end of Indian Head Highway - that’s 40 minutes from the Beltway!
Bring water and a snack for on the water and lunch for afterwards.
Everyone must wear a PFD, not just strap it on your boat. All participants must also sign a Women Outdoors waiver before getting on the water.
This event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can also join now by clicking on this Join Us link.
Registration is limited to 15 women and closes on Thursday, May 31 or whenever we reach 15. Please note on your registration if you will bring your own boat or if you will be renting a kayak.
