Join us for a late afternoon/early evening stroll through Washington Grove. We'll wander around the trails, and if there is interest, hike up to the track that goes around the Cobbs Hill Reservoir.

Covering approximately 100 acres, Washington Grove has a network of trails that winds through mature oaks and interesting topography; a rare example of an ancient oak-hickory forest. The City of Rochester and School District dedicated the Grove in 1932. In addition to the old oaks, some of which are about 200 years old, the Grove also contains rare examples of kame and kettle glacial topography that were once predominant in the Pinnacle Range.

The Cobbs Hill Reservoir boasts one of the greatest views of the city.  There is 1/3 mile paved path around reservoir and you can see the hills of Canandaigua.

  • What to bring

Hiking poles, bug spray, water, and sturdy footwear. Optional: Bring a dinner or snack to eat on the trail.

  • Directions

Use this address as the closest to the trail head: 2 Nunda Blvd, Rochester, NY 14610. Park on the street (there is room for about 8 cars). I drive a dark Rav 4.

  • Important to know

Dogs are welcome on a leash.
