Please join us for our planning meeting for our Summer calendar. Our planning meetings are always a great way to learn about Women Outdoors (our national organization), to meet members, and to have some fun. Please invite your friends.

We’ll start out at 11 am with our planning meeting, then reward ourselves with lunch, before we take a short stroll to the Cowsheds, where we can look up at the waterfall. This trail is flat and about a quarter mile long. Nearby is a swimming area with excellent space for wading if anyone is interested.

Those interested can continue hiking on the rim trails, a steep loop about 3.5 miles. The gorge trail is beautiful but one section is closed, so we can hike there but not in a loop.

Bring: We'll provide deli sandwich fixings. Bring a dish to share if you wish. We often have more food than we need, so come with or without a dish!

Also Bring: your trip ideas of what you would like to do this ssummer, your calendar, and appetite, and clothes to get wet in. Optional: camera, hiking poles, a friend! Don’t forget to dress for the weather and activity.

Directions to the park: From I-81, take exit 12. Turn right onto 281 North, then left onto NYS Route 90 South. Go about 12 miles to a stop sign, turn right onto NYS Route 38 North, and the park will be on your right in about 3 miles, just before the village of Moravia.

Directions inside the park: Stop and pay the state park entry fee. Go straight past the first left turn, which goes into the campground. When you come to a Y, bear left into the main parking lot and continue across that lot to a stop sign. Drive through the stream into the second parking lot. On the right is a row of trees; park close to these and look for us at a picnic table. Signs will say Old Bathhouse, which is the building with bathrooms.

If it rains, we will instead claim a section of the main pavilion in the first parking lot.

How to Find us: Look for the Old Bathhouse: from the main parking lot, drive through the stream (yes!), park on the right side (farthest from the playground) and look for us on the other site of the row of trees.

About the park:

Fillmore Glen is one of the many beautiful gorges in the Finger Lakes region, an oasis of cool, dense woods crowding into a long, narrow gorge. Out of all the surrounding parks, Fillmore is the most rustic and closest to its natural state. Its hiking trails offer magnificent views, distinctive geological characteristics (similar to Watkins Glen), including five major waterfalls within the glen. This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.

*** RSVP and Cancellations – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ ***

Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. Please also RSVP early, especially if there are only a few signed up. Events may be cancelled due to lack of attendance, as well as changes in weather or other circumstances. If you must cancel at the last minute, call or text the event host/trip leader (see your registration confirmation for contact details) and let her know who it is who is calling/texting.
