This event will be led by Margaret and Sandy

We'll meet at Wild Wings at 12:30 pm, and spend an hour visiting checking out the birds, and read a bit about how the park was formed by glaciers. **Check the map for the exact location. Google is going to the wrong spot with the address. You can also use this park map: https://www2.monroecounty.gov/files/parks/jan%2015%20mpp%20map.pdf

Wild Wings is a volunteer run not-for-profit educational organization housing and caring for permanently injured birds of prey unable to survive on their own in the wild. Wild Wings’ mission is to teach environmental stewardship through programs featuring their resident raptors as teaching partners. They travel with their raptors to schools, scout meetings, and many other corporate and private events as well as hosting educational programs and hikes at their facility at Mendon Ponds Park. They also run a charming gift shop.

Note: Other than the gift shop, this is all outside so dress for the weather. Wild Wings does not charge an admission fee but suggests a donation; ALL donations and sales go directly to the animals. www.wildwingsinc.com/

Then at 1:30 PM, we will start out on a 2-mile hike on the Birdsong and Swamp Trails. If you want to skip Wild Wings, meet us outside the Nature Center by the explanation of how glaciers formed the park.

This is mostly a very level trail however it may be slippery if there is snow or rain, bring poles if desired. On very cold days the chickadees might eat seed out of our hands however it may be a bit too early in the season for this – we’ll see (Margaret will bring bird seed just in case).

Dress for the weather and ground conditions.  Boots are recommended if there is still snow on the ground. Optionally bring hiking poles.

Optional: **10:30 AM Breakfast/Brunch** If folks are interested, Margaret will check out breakfast/brunch spots and suggest three. Those who are registered 4 days prior to event will be able to indicate their preference via email (address will be in the confirmation email) and we'll finalize and update via email 2 days in advance with the final choice. If you have any dietary restrictions, let us know.

How to Find Us: For Wild Wings, meet in the parking lot. For the hike, meet outside the Nature Center by the explanation of how glaciers formed the park

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on  Join Us.
