Please join us for our planning meeting for our Winter/Spring calendar. Continuing around our beautiful Finger Lakes region, we will meet this time in Rochester, at the Brighton Library. Our planning meetings are always a great way to learn about Women Outdoors, to meet members, and to have some fun. Please invite your friends.

We’ll start out at 11:00 am with our planning meeting, and then reward ourselves with lunch, before we head outdoors for a walk/suburban hike on the Brickyard Trail.

Meeting/Lunch

Location: Learning Center at Brighton Memorial Library, 2300 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618. Note: There is plenty of parking in parking lot around library and town hall. There are even two free electric chargers for electric vehicles.

How to find the Learning Center inside Brighton Memorial Library – Enter the library, turn right, walk up steps and through doors into the Learning Center

Planning Meeting: Bring your trip ideas for winter and early spring, and of course your calendar. Think snow - where do you like to ski? Where can we do a moonlight snowshoe walk? What are your favorite places to hike early spring? Or is there a place that you’d love to check out?

Lunch: We’ll provide sandwich fixings and some salads. If you’d like, bring something small to share. (Note: There is no kitchen available, no frig and no microwave).  Bring drinks for yourself.

Walk/Suburban Hike

We will be walking the Brickyard Trail at the Sandra Frankel Nature Park, 0.8 miles each direction, 1.6 miles round trip. The trailhead is on Elmwood Avenue at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Eastland Avenue. We will walk to the trail from the Learning Center of Brighton Memorial Library. The trail is level, covered in a very fine pea stone, passing through wooded areas and wet lands. The Brickyard trail connects Elmwood Avenue and Westfall Road.

For those who would like to continue for about a mile farther, there is a loop around Buckland Park right across Westfall Road. This trail is very level and has many surfaces: pavement, wood chips, stone and mud. Boots are encouraged.

Dress for the weather. Dress in layers. Boots and hats are encouraged. Bring a water bottle, binoculars are optional.

If you would like to join us for the hike only, please meet us in the Learning Center of Brighton Memorial Library at 1:15 pm (time of departure around 1:30 pm)

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.

*** RSVP and Cancellations – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ ***

Please respect the trip leader and update your RSVP if you sign-up but then are unable to attend. Please also RSVP early, especially if there are only a few signed up. Events may be cancelled due to lack of attendance, as well as changes in weather or other circumstances. If you must cancel at the last minute, call or text the event host/trip leader (see your registration confirmation for contact details) and let her know who it is who is calling/texting. Be sure to copy down the address, directions, and trip leader contact information to bring with you as there might not be good cell service at the event location.
