Join us as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Women Outdoors. Believe it or not, our very first adventure was June 6, 2009, when we hiked Sugarloaf Mountain. A decade later, we’re still nurturing our nature with Women Outdoors. We're celebrating 10 years of outdoor adventure by packing a little bit of all of it into one big day we're calling Create Your Own Adventure Play Day. We’ve reserved a picnic pavilion at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD for the entire day. You’ll have your choice of hiking, road or mountain biking, kayaking or canoeing, birding or fishing, wandering through a tree identification trail or the peony fields, playing disc golf or corn hole, or just hanging out at the pavilion all day. Anyone want to lead an orienteering class? There are two courses at Seneca Creek State Park. For the most part, we’re going to keep things spontaneous and let folks choose what they want to do and when they want to do it. We'll meet at the picnic pavilion at 10 a.m. and then scatter to our various adventures from there. There should be plenty of time to fit in two or more activities during our play day. And of course, what would any self-respecting Women Outdoors event be without food? There are three grills at the picnic pavilion, so we’ll fire up the barbies in the afternoon for a bring-your-own-something to grill. We’ll also do potluck side dishes and desserts.
Seneca Creek State Park charges an entry fee of $3/per person for MD residents and $5/per person for out-of-state residents. Maryland residents aged 62+ may purchase a Golden Age Pass for $10 for lifetime free admission to Maryland State Parks.
