This Black Friday, forget the mall madness and the door-buster specials and instead #OptOutside with Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic.
Five years ago, REI began closing its doors on Black Friday and launched #OptOutside to encourage everyone to enjoy nature instead of fighting traffic and crowds. This year, we're not just going to #OptOutside, we're also going to Opt to Act. (Full disclosure, your friendly regional contact works part-time at REI.)
We're going to hike about 4 miles at Gambrill State Park, but in addition to hiking poles and binoculars, we're bringing work gloves and trash bags. We will be part of a nationwide day of action to leave our world just a little bit better by picking up trash on the trail, in the parking lot or wherever else we find it.
FYI - Gambrill State Park charges $3/vehicle for MD residents and $5/vehicle for out-of-state visitors.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are welcome to attend two WO events before joining Women Outdoors. Of course, you can join right now by clicking on Join Us.

If you are running late or need to cancel on the morning of the hike, please call or text a trip leader directly.
