UPDATE: The Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic St. Patrick's Day hike has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a hike at everyone's local favorite - Sugarloaf Mountain.
We will hike at an easy pace for 5 miles, but this hike is moderately difficult with steep climbs and lots of rocks. There are fabulous views of the surrounding areas.
Sugarloaf Mountain is the prominence visible in the piedmont as it rises out of the plains southeast of Frederick MD. The mountain and trails are maintained by Stronghold, Inc. a non-profit set up by Louise and Gordon Strong in 1946 to preserve the mountain so it could be enjoyed by everyone.
Bring a brown bag lunch and we'll eat at a scenic overlook. Binoculars and hiking poles are also nice to have on this hike. Sorry, no doggies on this hike.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are welcome to attend two WO events before joining Women Outdoors. Of course, you can join right now by clicking on Join Us.
Registration is limited to 10 and closes on Sunday, March 15 or when we reach 10 hikers, whichever comes first.
NEW: After you register, you will receive an automatic email with all of the details for the hike. This is the only email you will receive, so be sure and save it or print it out and bring it with you.
If you need to cancel before March 15, please send an email to MidAtlantic@womenoutdoors.org. If you are running late or need to cancel on the morning of the hike, please call or text the trip leader directly. Her contact information will be in the automatic email you will receive after you register. Thank you.
