Join Margaret for this hike
We will walk north on a trail along the west side of the Genesee River as far as we would like then turn around and walk back. This trail is across the river from the zoo and once when I recently walked the trail I heard some animal from the zoo calling and bellowing. We’ll hike between the river and a couple cemeteries with lots of wildlife: deer, Canadian geese, ducks and wild turkeys to name a few. Some parts of the trail have tree roots crossing the trail however most parts do not and the trail is quite level. More recently some folks have taken up biking along this trail, particularly on bikes with fat tires but I do not expect we’ll see too many this time of year.
Bring MASK: must be worn and we will be physical distancing (6 feet apart or more), and water. Dress for the weather (layers recommended).
Optional: snack, camera, hiking poles.
We will start behind the former St. Bernard’s Seminary, now a senior residential complex. (Address sent in your confirmation email).
Here is an article about St. Bernard’s Seminary: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/local/rocroots/2014/09/20/whatever-happened-st-bernards-seminary/15716729/

I believe they are working on refurbishing this lovely structure as there is presently scaffolding erected however we will still be able to view and appreciate the beautiful architecture.
