Regional Contact Heather Hersee, trip leader Janet Stotsky and Regional Contact Lisa Vaas invite you to a trip-planning meeting on May 21, 10 am–noon, at Janet’s home in Brookline.
If you can't make it in person but would like to join us via Zoom, see below for the dial-in information.
Look for the directions to Janet's home and a repeat of the Zoom sign-in link in the confirmation email that will be sent after you register.
There's a cap on how many people we can squeeze into Janet's home, so please make sure to register to give us an idea of how many plan to come.If you get shut out of registering, please do join us via Zoom by using the dial-in info below.
What we'll do
We’ll meet to propose events and organize the draft of a schedule with leader and co-leader commitments for the late spring, into summer and on to early fall, including walking/hiking, bicycling, kayaking, cultural, educational, and any other outdoors-focused event that participants would like to put on the agenda.
Curious about trip leading?
The meeting is open to both current trip organizers as well as any member who's interested in becoming a trip leader. However, given that this meeting will be for only two hours, we likely won’t have time to go in-depth about the process of becoming a co-leader, which is the first step to becoming a full-fledged trip leader. But for those who are interested in starting on that path, this trip planning meeting is a great place to observe how trips get brainstormed and to let your Regional Contacts know that you’re interested in leading so we can make sure you get paired as a co-leader with an experienced trip leader.
Brunch will be served!
Again, details on where to go, contact phone, and parking/public transportation will be sent after you’ve registered.
Important: Be advised: If you’re allergic to cats, please take an antihistamine in advance.
Trip suggestions to prime our brainstorming
Walking: Urban walks, including Franklin Park, Hike the Hills, Castle Island, Charles River, Ponkapoag Trail, World's End (Hingham Trustees property) and local lakes/ponds; Audubon sanctuaries; and Trustees of Reservations destinations.
Hiking: Mt. Wachusett, Mt. Watatic, Mt. Major (NH), the Blue Hills, Middlesex Fells and Mt. Tom, as well as more ambitious NH hikes.
Bicycling: Ayer-Nashua, Bruce Freeman, Minuteman, Upper Charles River, Charles River Basin, East Providence to Bristol, Shining Sea Bike Path of Falmouth, or Cape Cod National Rail Trails, plus urban bike rides along the Emerald Necklace or the downtown loop, and other off-trail/quiet street rides anyone would like to propose.
Kayaking: Charles River (various places to put in where rentals available) or quiet ocean bays/inlets.
Cultural: Museums, ball games, county or local fairs, etc.
