Exploring Tuckahoe S.P. by boat

Registration will open Saturday, June 24 at 7:00 a.m.

Tuckahoe State Park has a 60-acre lake with 20 acres of open water. The remaining acres are flooded woodland with a creek running through it.

A launch ramp is available for easy access. Gasoline motor use is prohibited, which allows for peaceful paddling.

Paddling at Tuckahoe is a popular activity on both the lake and the creek because of the park's abundant wildlife. It is common for visitors to enjoy watching bald eagles, ospreys and great blue herons. Beavers and muskrats have surprised visitors by swimming past their canoes. Tuckahoe is full of pockets of secluded beauty, some only accessible by boat.

Beginner to advanced boaters welcome! (Please let a leader know upon arrival if you are a beginner.)

More specific information regarding location will be in the automatic email you'll receive after registering.

We plan to paddle approximately two hours.

Kayaks and canoes, single and tandem, are available to rent for $15/hour/boat; cash or check only, no credit cards accepted, so come prepared!  If you're renting a tandem with someone, you can share the cost since the rental fee is per boat, not per person.

If bringing your own boat, be sure and also bring your own PFD and safety whistle. There is no launch fee if you bring your own boat.

PFDs are required for all paddlers and must be worn properly (not strapped on the deck of your kayak) throughout the entire trip.

This event will initially be open only to members of Women Outdoors. If we have spaces available as the date gets closer, we will open up registration to non-members. If you are a non-member and would like to be put on the waiting list, please send an email to MidAtlantic@womenoutdoors.org .

Non-members are welcome to attend two WO events as guests. On your third event, we'll ask you to join the Mid-Atlantic Region of Women Outdoors. You can also join right now by clicking on this Join Us link.

Registration is limited to 10 participants and will close on Tuesday July 12th or when capacity is reached, whichever comes first.
