Join Becky for a Bike Ride From from Ithaca to Taughannock Falls
This is a 16.8 mile ride with a slow gradual incline for 8.4 miles. Trail mostly feels level. Coming back...all downhill! This rail trail was used from 1896 to 1959 as a luxury passenger line called the Black Diamond Express which ran in New York through Ithaca to Buffalo. It is a beautiful, well maintained, and mostly shaded trail.
We will be riding for 2 or 3 hours, depending on whether we walk to the top of the falls at the halfway mark.
Surface is packed gravel
Average speed 10 mph
No Costs. There is a bathroom near the parking lot and a Porta potty around 6 miles up.
