Women's weekend paddle trip one day on the Connecticut River, flat/moving water with a gentle flow. And a second day on a nearby lake.

We will be staying Friday and Saturday nights at a large b&b near Ascutney VT. This trip is limited to 10 Women Outdoors members in good standing. We will share meals and cooking/clean up duties.

Total cost will be determined based on number of people, lodging cost around $250 plus food expenses. A deposit of $150, payable to the trip leader after you are accepted, will hold your space. More details to follow by email.

For paddling, you will need drinking water, immersible shoes, quick-dry clothing, and a jacket, windbreaker or raingear depending on the weather. PFDs (lifejackets) must be worn at all times while on the water, and paddlers are expected to stay with the group. Bring your own boat, paddle, and PFD, or rent from trip leader for $60 for the 2-day trip. This trip is for kayaks and canoes only; no paddleboards, blow-up boats, whitewater kayaks or any type of motorized craft.

You must be able to paddle long distances/long hours, but of course with stops along the way for stretching and lunch. The Connecticut River trip is 10 miles in one day. The trip may be adjusted according to weather.

We will be vetting people to make sure this trip is a good fit for each person. When you register you will be asked:

1. What boat you're planning to paddle, its length and make/model. Or if you need to rent a boat, and if you want a recreational ( large cockpit) wider kayak, or a skinnier touring kayak

2. How many years have you been paddling? Do you feel confident in your paddling skills on flatwater? Can you paddle against a strong headwind?

3. How many times have you paddled in the last 2 years. What was your longest daily distance?

4. Do you have any medical conditions that may affect you on this trip? Do you have allergies that may require medication (e.g., epipen)? Are you recovering from any injuries that may limit your mobility or activity level?
