The Wild Goose Chase is a bicycle weekend for women on Maryland’s Eastern Shore near the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge sponsored by Terry Bicycles, WomanTours, Gore Bike Wear, Bicycling and others.
Georgena Terry, founder of Terry Bicycles, started the Wild Goose Chase in 2008 as a fundraiser for the Friends of Blackwater. The event has generated more than $134,000 for the organization over the past five years.
Saturday’s events include self-guided bike tours, kayaking (through Blackwater Paddle and Pedal), the Terry/Gore Bike Wear tent sale, and dinner with Georgena Terry.
The Wild Goose Chase, the main event, is on Sunday with four different rides: 16.2, 22.2, 42.8 and 66.5 miles. Registration is $60; dinner with Georgena Terry is $25. Make your motel reservations early (some are already booked up.)
For full details and to register for the weekend, go to the Wild Goose Chase website.
Special note: The Wild Goose Chase is not an official Women Outdoors event, but some Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic members will be riding in it. If you decide to sign up, send an email midatlantic@womenoutdoors.org to let us know so we can get together while we’re out there.
