Robert H. Treman State Park is an area of wild beauty, with the rugged gorge called Enfield Glen as its scenic highlight. Winding trails follow the gorge past 12 waterfalls, including the 115-foot Lucifer Falls, to where visitors can see a mile-and-a-half down the wooded gorge as it winds its way to the lower park.
Description of Hike: The first half of the hike will be fairly steep and lengthy but there are plenty of places to stop, catch your breath and admire the terrain. At about the half way mark we can decide whether to finish the hike (this part of the trail is much more level) or take a detour up to the Grist Mill. The climb to the Mill is rugged and winding but well worth the effort. Restrooms are available at the Grist Mill and in the Parking areas of the Park. The full hike (including the climb to the Grist Mill) will take approximately three hours.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. Wear: good hiking footwear because if the trail is wet it can be slippery. Dress for the weather.
Bring: water, hat, a lunch and hiking shoes. You may want to include binoculars, camera, a snack, and a hiking stick.
Admission: Unless you have a NYS Park Pass there will be a $7.00 per car fee.
Optional: Visit the Ithaca Farmer's Market after the hike.
