This will be a leisurely 2-3 mile hike.  We will be looking for wildflowers and wildlife.  The trail starts in the park and after a short stretch, we cross over Route 13.  Most of the trail is in the woods.  We will pass ponds and a swampy area where we can look for birds.

Bring: water, a snack and, if you like, binoculars.  Bug spray is also a good idea.

NO dogs, please.

Note: We may have to pay a $7 entrance fee.

Address/Directions: 6541 Lakeshore Road South and Route 13, Verona Beach, NY

Enter the park at the main entrance off Route 13.  At the T turn right and come all the way down to the unkempt parking lot on the left.  We will meet there.

Verona Beach State Park is located on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake.  The lake, Black Creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps make this park one of the most diverse aquatic habitats in Central NY.

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.

You can also join our Meetup Group: http://www.meetup.com/Women-Outdoors-Finger-Lakes/ and you'll be able to share in the conversation with other attendees, ask about car-pooling, borrow equipment, etc. RSVP here or on Meetup.
