We will take a leisurely walk thru a 20 acre woodland looking for the springtime delicacy, morel mushrooms, hoping the conditions are right.

Please come prepared for a woodland walk.

Bring/Wear: Hiking/walking shoes, long pants, long sleeve shirt, hat, rain gear if rain is predicted, water, insect repellent with deet.  You must have a mesh bag for your morels.  (We use a mesh bag to spread the spores for next year as we carry our morels thru the woodlands).  There will be some for sale for $3 if you do not have one.

Like any hunt, finding them is not guaranteed. The  soil temperature  must be 55 and it needs to be hot and humid. If we do find some, we can sautee a few on the grill after the hunt. If that is the case plan to stay for a taste test!  MMMmmmm good.

We will meet at Linda's home. Please RSVP for address and contact information.

Optionally come early for the Master gardeners plant sale in Newark.

When: from 8:00 am to 11:30 am
Where: At the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County, 1581 Rte 88 North, Newark

Join us to get some great plants for your gardens and home landscapes. Plants available for purchase are a combination of shrubs, perennials, herbs, annual vegetables and flowers that are provided by local nurseries and from Master Gardener’s private collections. We sell out quickly so don’t delay!

Proceeds help support the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Community Horticulture program.

This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are invited to join us on two events to see what you think. The third time's a charm - we'll ask you to join Women Outdoors at that point. You can join now by clicking on Join Us.

You can also join our Meetup Group: http://www.meetup.com/Women-Outdoors-Finger-Lakes/ and you'll be able to share in the conversation with other attendees, ask about car-pooling, borrow equipment, etc. RSVP here or on Meetup.
