Join us for a 6-mile easy to moderate winter hike at nearby Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD.
We will hike approximately 2.5 miles of the Lake Shore Trail before leaving the lake to follow Mink Hollow Trail 1.2 miles to the Long Draught/ Great Seneca Trail, which we will follow for approximately 1.5 miles back to the Lake Dam where we will pick up Lake Shore Trail again for approximately ½ mile back to the cars, for a total of approximately 6 miles.
If roads are safe to travel, this hike will happen regardless of weather but could be shortened to the 3.7 miles around just the lake if weather conditions warrant a shorter hike. We’ll pass through many habitats: lake, marsh (boardwalk), woodlands, along streams, old fields, pine plantations.
Bring a brown bag lunch and we'll stop at one of the picnic pavilions along the way. Binoculars and hiking poles are also nice to have on this hike. Sorry, no doggies on this hike.
This free event is open to members and non-members of Women Outdoors. Non-members are welcome to attend two WO events before joining Women Outdoors. Of course, you can join right now by clicking on Join Us.
