WOOF: Women Outdoors Online Funtimes
Join us for
Outdoor Education with Bonna Wieler
COMING TO YOU ON ZOOM
Note: Zoom Meeting Details will be sent in your confirmation email OR later via a separate email.
This will be a WOOF (Women Outdoors Online Funtimes) presentation about Outdoor Education for those Women Outdoors members who are also teachers, though everyone is welcome to join, whether you are interested in outdoor education, creating outdoor experiences for others, or fine-tuning some outdoor skills.
Presenter: I'm Bonna Wieler, outdoor educator. I work and play with Women Outdoors, the Appalachian Mountain Club, White River Valley School District middle school in Vermont, and Bold Paths Adventure, teaching and leading kayak trips and camps. My intention is to connect people of all ages with the natural world, enhance confidence and self-sufficiency, and create outdoor learning and playing experiences.
In this workshop, I will be sharing the K-12 Outdoor Education programming that I use. This will be interesting for both teachers and non-educators, given that the programming covers many topics about learning in the outdoors.
We will view a slide-show on ECO (elementary) and Middle/High School Outdoor Education programming, and you may also access my documents that address specific learning topics in the outdoors (i.e., fire safety, fire building, shelter building, cold and wet weather, safety outdoors/ leadership, and more).
After the slideshow, we will have a discussion, during which I can also lend support, networking, and videos on different topics. After the discussion, we will have open time for online visiting.
I hope you can make it.
Please let me know if you are a teacher, or if you teach in the outdoors, or if you just want more information, or are interested in creating outdoor experiences for others. We focus on K-12 Outdoor Education programming, but this would be interesting to people who are not teachers as well, as it reviews many topics about learning in the outdoors. I would love to hear from you to learn what you like to do outdoors, and why this event interests you. I would like to tailor it to participants' interests.
