Join us for our Summer/Fall Planning Meeting at  Taughannock Falls State Park

Planning meetings are back! For our new members, planning meetings are always a great way to learn more about Women Outdoors, help us plan our events/outings for the next 3 to 4 months, meet your fellow members, and to have some fun. And of course, there's always lots of good food.

This event is limited to vaccinated members

Our pavilion accommodates only 25, so sign up early! If a nice day, we can spread out so we'll remove the limit and add everyone from the wait list, if any.

Taughannock Falls State Park's namesake waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the Northeast. Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail.

For this meeting we have rented the Creekside Shelter! Park at the North Point parking lot and head towards the water to find the Creekside Shelter pavilion.

Park Admission Fee: $8 per vehicle - bring cash in case their payment system is down.

Our Agenda:

11:00 am - Come Hang out and meet everyone

11:30 am - Lunch

  • We will provide sandwich fixings: Deli meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, condiments, etc.
  • Please bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share.
  • Please provide your own drinks.

12:15 pm - Planning Meeting

  • Plan some wonderful summer and fall events for our region.
  • Learn about the upcoming national Gathering in August. Have some questions or looking to carpool? Now's the time to ask.
  • Don't forget to bring your calendar and ideas for the next 3-4 months.

~1:15 pm - Hike the Gorge Trail; optionally continue on Rim Trail

  • The Gorge Trail is an easy, flat (and cool on a hot day) 3/4-mile stroll to the base of the falls.
  • For those looking for a longer hike, after returning from the Gorge Trail we can do a 3-mile loop on the North and South Rim Trails. Steep in places, with some stairs. A pretty hike with overlooks of the main falls and smaller waterfalls.

Bring:

  • A side dish, appetizer, or dessert to pass. Please include a card with primary ingredients, especially if gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, sodium, nuts, etc. Know what you'd like to bring? Let us know when you register.
  • Lawn Chair - optional if you prefer one to the picnic table
  • Your trip ideas, calendars, and enthusiasm
  • Dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Sunscreen and bug protection
  • Water for lunch and the hike
  • Optional: camera, hiking sticks.
  • A mask - may be needed depending on current conditions
