Our 15th Anniversary Celebration!
We're going big for the 15th anniversary of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Women Outdoors! We're planning a 4-day/3-night getaway at Camp Misty Mount, a cabin camp at Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont, MD.
Nestled in a hardwood forest, Camp Misty Mount takes you back in time to your days at summer camp. Come on Thursday and stay until Sunday.
In commemoration of our very first WO Mid-Atlantic event (a hike, of course) in June 2009, sometime over the weekend we'll go on an anniversary hike on one of the beautiful trails in Catoctin Mountain Park.
Unfortunately, Cunningham Falls State Park will be closed because of a major sewer line renovation and replacement project along Route 77, which means we won't be able to go kayaking at Hunting Creek Lake. But the hiking path from Catoctin Mountain Park to the falls will still be open.
Great news! The sewer line renovation and replacement project finished ahead of schedule and Cunningham Falls State Park is now completely open. Bring your kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board or rent one at the park if you want to get on the water.
Back at Camp Misty Mount, enjoy swimming in the heated pool. And of course, just hanging out at camp all weekend and relaxing is always an option.
Built during the Great Depression, historic Camp Misty Mount features rustic American chestnut cabins that can accommodate 3-4 people. Each cabin has interior and exterior lighting, a ceiling fan, metal cots with vinyl mattresses, picnic table and fire ring/grill. Bathrooms and showers are located in a central bathhouse near the cabins.
Women Outdoors Mid-Atlantic has rented a lodge at Camp Misty Mount that will be available as community space for our members all weekend. We'll have corn hole, games, puzzles and other sundry activities if it rains. Arts and crafts, anyone? We'll also have a campfire near the lodge each night.
To keep things as simple as possible, everyone will be responsible for bringing her own food for the weekend, but plan on eating dinners together at the lodge.
Sorry, doggies are not allowed at Camp Misty Mount. Also, no alcohol.
This activity is open only to members of Women Outdoors. You can join right now by clicking on this Join Us link.
If you have already confirmed your cabin reservation with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Contacts, please click on the REGISTER button and agree to the Women Outdoors Assumption of Risk statement.
We have just a few more spaces available for the Mid-Atlantic Region's 15th anniversary celebration weekend. We no longer have any single cabins available, only shared cabins. The cost would range from $50 - $75 depending on how many members are in a cabin ($75 each for two, $50 each for three).
If you want to attend, please email MidAtlantic@womenoutdoors.org ASAP to let us know and to make arrangements to pay for your cabin. Filling out this online registration is only one part of the registration process and does NOT confirm your place.
The automatic confirmation email will contain more specific information regarding our weekend at Camp Misty Mount. Please save it or print it out in case there is no cell coverage in the area. We will also email additional information such as a suggested packing list as the date approaches.
