Join Sandy, Stacy, and other members for a leisurely day at Pratt's Falls Park
Optional Activities Include:
- Picnic Lunch - we'll provide sandwich fixings (including vegan cheese) and chili or soup. Please bring a dish to share and your own drinks.
- Hang Out/Visit
- Hike on one or more of the trails - download a Trail Map from the Park website.
- Orienteering: There is a permanent orienteering course at the park - Stacy can loan you a compass and a map for the course.
About Pratt's Falls: Scenic trails leading to a 137' waterfall beckon visitors to bring a well-stocked picnic basket and a sense of adventure. This geological wonder, formed by retreating glaciers, was the site of Onondaga County's first mill operation in 1796.
Entrance fee per vehicle: $2
Directions:
The park address will be in your confirmation email. Be sure to enter through the Main Entrance, not Brockway. Then bear right at the Y in the park entrance road, to get to the big parking lot shown on the map below (Full Map with Trails) (NOT the few parking spaces next to the trailhead shed).
We will set up in the Spruce Grove Picnic Area near the main parking lot. If you are facing the big building with the bathrooms, we will be on your left. Look for Women Outdoors lawn signs to help direct you. Note: the group at Falls Shelter is not us.
Bring:
- A side dish, appetizer, or dessert to pass. Please include a card with primary ingredients, especially if gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, sodium, nuts, etc. Know what you'd like to bring? Let us know when you register.
- Clothing appropriate for the weather
- For hiking: water, walking shoes, bug spray, sturdy foot wear, hiking sticks optional, a copy of the trail map
- For orienteering: compass (if you have your own), or you can borrow one
