    Join us for

    "Winter Road Tripping"

with Lisa Vaas and Bonna Wieler

    COMING TO YOU ON ZOOM

Join us for a conversation on winter driving. Spurred on by incidents as people traveled to Craftsbury, VT for our winter weekend during a blizzard in 2022, the following year, we presented a slideshow of winter driving tips and had a WOOF session of story- and advice-sharing about potential winter driving issues. We've updated the slideshow, which you can view here whether you attend our WOOF session or not. We won't be going through the slides during this session; rather, we'll just focus on story- and advice-sharing.

Note: Zoom Meeting Details will be sent with your confirmation email

    Presenters Bios:

Lisa Vaas, Regional Contact, E. MA, Women Outdoors Board Director at Large

      Disability is Natural:
Ableism, Accessibility, and Belonging in the Outdoors

Trailblazer: Disabled Hikers Founder Syren Nagakyrie

      COMING TO YOU ON ZOOM

Join us for a discussion with Syren Nagakyrie (they/them), founder and director of Disabled Hikers where they will share about their work on accessibility and building community, how to create access-centered outings, and more with us in WO.

Should you be looking for more inspiration to get outdoors, you will find it in the stories of these courageous people who are overcoming all odds, turning insurmountable roadblocks into solvable problems…. Stories full of spirit and human emotion by those who hike or have hiked are found on Disabled Hikers. These are stories that are relatable and translatable for more than hiking. One such post called Building an Equitable Existence to Thrive: I can, I must, I will is one woman’s story of overcoming invisible disabilities to eventually summit Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in US contiguous states.

Note: Zoom Meeting Details will be sent with your confirmation email

Hiking the Coast to Coast Trail

        with Jen MacKenzie

Join me on a presentation about my walk across England.

In August 2024 as a 70th birthday present to myself, I decided to walk the Coast to Coast path from the Cumbrian Village of St. Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, following the path of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast. I met with a group of 10 women in St. Bees and spent 16 days walking the 192 mile path.

Topics covered: the Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales, the Vale of Mowbray and the North York Moors.

Presenter Bio:  Jennifer MacKenzie is a Women Outdoor's Board Member and RC for Connecticut. She grew up camping, hiking and fishing with her family in Maine and New Hampshire. She has been leading hikes for at least 25 years at all levels and has completed trainings on leadership and wilderness survival with the AMC. She is a newly retired school teacher and librarian who lives in Danbury CT near the New York border.

          South America Adventure 2025!

Machu Picchu, Galapagos Islands, Ecuadorian Amazon Jungle

Bucket list trip alert! Have you ever wanted to go on the trip of a lifetime? Well, Women Outdoors is planning an breathtaking adventure for June-July 2025 to Macchu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands and the Ecuadorian Amazon.

You can choose to go on one, two or all three adventures. The exact dates have not yet been set, but we'll travel between late June and mid July 2025.

Here's the trip in a nutshell:

Machu Picchu - Late June 2025. Walking tour of Cusco. Sacred Valley tour by van to Ollantaytambo. Tour Ollantaytambo ruins. Guided tour of Machu Picchu. Pachamanca feast in home of Qechua farmer.

Galapagos Islands - Immediately after Machu Picchu. Optional tours to chocolate farm and coffee plantation. Van tour of Highland Tortoise Reserve and lunch on a farm on the way to the village of Puerta Ayora. Speed boat to Isabela Island/Puerto Villamil and then boat to Tintoreras Islet for snorkeling. "Tunnels" day boat trip and snorkeling in underwater lava formations. Service project on a coffee farm. Speed boat transfer to Santa Cruz Island for dinner hosted by fisherman and family.

Ecuador Amazon Cruise - After the Galapagos Islands, probably early July 2025. This adventure begins in Quito and after a short flight to Coca, we'll board a motorized canoe for a short journey down the river before reaching the Manatee Amazon Explorer for our welcome aboard. A local naturalist guide will give an introduction to the Ecuadorian Amazon. Some of our activities will be a nighttime forest walk, canoe trip on the Panayacu River delta, nature walks with local naturalist guides, kayaking and swimming in Piranha Lake (not as dangerous as it sounds!).

We're working with Adios Adventure Travel to plan this awe-inspiring adventure. Adios Adventure Travel helped facilitate the Women Outdoors trip to Machu Picchu in 2022 and we loved it so much we asked them to help us out again.

Right now, we're just looking to see how many Women Outdoors members would be interested in joining us on this incredible adventure.

Click here for a detailed description of each segment of the trip.

Once you've had a chance to dream about this trip of a lifetime, come back to this web page and register your interest.

There is no commitment to attend at this point; we just want to see how much interest is out there. You do not need to be a member of Women Outdoors to let us know of your interest in this trip at this time. Just click on the REGISTER button and let us know you're interested.

If you want to come, check your passport's expiration date. It must be valid until at least January 2026.
